Miami’s own Zoetic Stage is kicking off its 17th anniversary season with one of the funniest plays of this century: Yasmina Reza’s “God of Carnage,” presented with the Adrienne Arsht Center as the opener of the 2026-27 Theater Up Close season. The show runs November 5–22, 2026, in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater.
Described as a “comedy of manners… without the manners,” this Broadway hit examines the fragile veneer of civility in American society. Two well-to-do couples meet in a Brooklyn apartment to civilly discuss a playground fight between their 11-year-old sons — and the polite conversation quickly devolves into a night of name-calling, physical altercations and alcohol-fueled hysteria.
Translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Stuart Meltzer, the play won the Olivier Award for Best Play and three Tony Awards. Cast completely with local actors and designers, Zoetic’s production stars Iain Batchelor, Jordyn Moone, Justin Packard and Sarah Rome Guerra.
Tickets are $67–$73 and available at ArshtCenter.org or by calling the box office at (305) 949-6722. The Theater Up Close season continues in January with the Florida premiere of “The Inheritance, Part Two” (January 7–24, 2027).
A brilliant start to a season of powerful storytelling in the heart of downtown Miami.
