Music, dancing, and pure Cuban flavor are taking over downtown Miami this week — and every show is free. The Adrienne Arsht Center is throwing “Rhythm & Roots,” a nightly concert series on its outdoor plaza from September 29 through October 4, timed with the opening of its Broadway in Miami season with the Tony Award-winning musical Buena Vista Social Club.
Each evening, the plaza turns into a lively celebration: live bands, DJs, dancing, domino games, local artisans, and pop-up vendors. The lineup reads like a love letter to Latin rhythms — Fry Trio & Leslie Cartaya (Sept. 29), Palo! (Sept. 30), Cortadito and 6Jam (Oct. 1), OKAN and Julio Montalvo y El Huracán de Miami (Oct. 2), and Mr. Pauer with special guests closing the weekend (Oct. 3–4). The Arsht lobby will also stay open with exhibitions, artifacts, and photography celebrating Cuban culture.
No tickets, no cover — just show up and soak in the rhythm. Artist availability may change, so check the Arsht Center’s website to confirm each night’s lineup. If you needed a reason to get outside this week, Miami just handed you six.
