Carnegie Mellon to Open 35-Acre Wynwood Campus Backed by Historic $3B Gift from Ken Griffin

Big news for Miami’s future: Carnegie Mellon University will establish a 35-acre campus in Wynwood, powered by a historic $3 billion donation from Ken Griffin — one of the largest gifts in the history of American higher education.

Enrollment is expected to begin in 2028, planting one of the world’s top universities for technology, robotics and the arts right in the heart of Miami’s creative district. The move cements Wynwood’s evolution from warehouse streets to a global hub of innovation, art and ideas — and brings thousands of students, researchers and new energy to the neighborhood.

For a city that keeps dreaming bigger, a Carnegie Mellon campus is another giant step: world-class education, homegrown tech talent and one more reason Miami’s moment is now.
