Big news for Miami’s future: Carnegie Mellon University is coming to Wynwood. According to a report by Catherine Odom in The Miami Herald, shared by the Wynwood Business Improvement District on September 30, the world-renowned university will establish a 35-acre campus in the heart of the arts district, powered by a historic donation from Ken Griffin through Griffin Catalyst.
Enrollment is expected to begin in 2028, and the campus is designed to educate more than 3,500 students. Programs will focus on the fields shaping tomorrow: health, national security, manufacturing, and climate — a direct boost to Miami’s fast-growing technology and innovation sectors.
For Wynwood, already famous for its murals and creative energy, the campus adds a new layer: a global research university choosing Miami as its home for the future. For students across South Florida, it means world-class education without leaving the Magic City.
Miami keeps leveling up — and the world is taking notice. Welcome to the neighborhood, Carnegie Mellon!
