Awards season starts early in Miami. The Miami Film Festival invites members to an exclusive first look at the complete GEMS 2026 lineup on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College.
Executive Director James Woolley and Director of Programming Lauren Cohen will take the stage for an insider presentation unveiling the films destined to define this year’s awards conversation — from highly anticipated international premieres to the year’s most buzzed-about contenders. The festival’s motto says it all: “Tomorrow’s Classics, Today!”
The 120-minute program is a true cinephile celebration: beyond the big reveal, guests can mingle over complimentary drinks and light bites in the iconic Freedom Tower, one of downtown Miami’s most beloved landmarks. It’s the perfect kickoff to GEMS 2026, the festival’s celebrated October edition that brings the year’s most talked-about films to South Florida.
The event is members-only, so it’s a great moment to join the Miami Film Festival Society and be among the very first to discover tomorrow’s classics — today.
