GableStage Premieres “True Art,” a Wickedly Funny Comedy About Deception in the Art World

Just in time for art season, GableStage is pulling back the curtain on the deliciously deceptive world of fine art.

“True Art,” by Jessica Provenz and directed by Bari Newport, makes its regional premiere at GableStage from November 20 through December 20, 2026, at The Wolfson Family Theatre, 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables. For tickets, call the box office at 305-445-1119.

The comedy follows a wide-eyed art history major who lands her dream job at a museum — only to be pulled into a whirlwind of ambition, treachery, and lies. Sharp, witty, and perfectly timed for Art Basel season, it’s a love letter to art with a mischievous wink.

GableStage has long been one of South Florida’s most beloved theatre companies, known for bold programming and intimate productions that punch far above their weight. “True Art” continues that tradition: smart, funny, and unmistakably Miami in its timing.

Whether you’re an art insider or just love a great comedy, this is the show to catch as the city’s galleries fill up for the season.
