If you love a good spooky story, October is your month at the Deering Estate. The historic estate in Palmetto Bay brings back its popular Historic Ghost Tours for 10 evenings this October: the 1st, 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 27th, and 29th.
The evening tours take place inside the historic Richmond Cottage, where many notable stories and sightings have been recorded over the years. Guests get to try real ghost-hunting equipment — pendulums, dowsing rods, and EMF meters — as they explore the candlelit rooms with a guide. Cameras and your own paranormal gear are welcome!
The tour is designed for adults and youth ages 9 and up, and it may include some mature subject matter. Please note the historic Stone House is currently closed for restoration and is not part of the tour.
Tickets are $45 per person, with a 10% discount for Deering Estate Foundation members. Tours start on time, so arrive 15 minutes early, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a flashlight — mosquito repellent is a good idea too.
