Where weird is welcomed — and it is free. The Miami Beach Botanical Garden hosts Folklore & Foliage on Friday, October 23, from 6 to 11 p.m.: an evening where art is reimagined, stories are shared, and magic meets creativity.
As darkness falls, the garden transforms. Wander among shifting shadows and lush foliage glowing under the night sky. Peruse dark and gothic art, oddities, and curiosities from participating Oddities & Arts Festival vendors. Listen to esoteric Old Florida lore with Books & Books, featuring author Thomas Smith sharing stories from his new book, The Ghosts of the Florida Atlantic Coast.
Watch Miami artist Christina Pettersson explore resurrection and mythology through a site-specific shadow puppet performance, catch vintage Halloween footage from Miami-Dade College’s Wolfson Archives, get an astrology or tarot reading with Aída The Energy Witch, or sip a signature cocktail from the Boo-tanical Bar.
Admission is free with RSVP, and all ages are welcome. Food, vendors, and more surprises to come.
