Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is presenting the first major survey in South Florida devoted to John Baldessari (1931–2020), one of the leading pioneers of conceptual art. John Baldessari: The End of the Line brings together forty works spanning painting, photography, video, and installation, drawn largely from the collection of Craig Robins, a close friend and one of the artist’s foremost collectors. The exhibition runs from August 20, 2026 through May 9, 2027.
The show traces Baldessari’s radical reinventions: his foundational works from the 1960s and 1970s, the 1970 Cremation Project in which he burned most of the paintings he had made between 1953 and 1966, his serial approach to photography, and his lifelong investigation into the relationship between language and image. Visitors will recognize his signature move of obscuring faces and details with brightly colored circles, drawn from his vast archive of film stills and media images.
Don’t miss I Will Not Make Any More Boring Art (1971), one of his most iconic critiques of the art establishment, shown here in an immersive gallery installation. The exhibition is curated by Karen Grimson of the Craig Robins Collection and organized at PAMM by José Carlos Diaz and Fabiana A. Sotillo.

Admission is free every Thursday after 5 p.m. The museum is open Monday, Friday, and Saturday 11 a.m.–6 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday 1–6 p.m.
