Calling all South Florida artists: one of Miami’s most inspiring landmarks wants to be your studio. Vizcaya Museum and Gardens has opened applications for the 2027 Vizcaya Arts Residency + Commission, a brand-new program under its expanded Vizcaya Arts umbrella.
The inaugural residency supports one artist with a $12,500 artist fee, a production budget of up to $25,000, dedicated studio space during museum hours, and curatorial support. The brand-new artist studio will open in the historic Chicken House as part of the revitalization of Vizcaya Village — a space where artists can research, experiment, and create site-specific work inspired by Vizcaya’s gardens, architecture, and history.
This year’s theme is “Holding Time,” inviting artists to explore how Vizcaya holds architectural history, material transformation, collective memory, and environmental change. The selected artist will work on-site from May through November 2027, with the resulting exhibition on view from November 2027 to May 2028 — including open studio hours during Vizcaya’s beloved Sunday Farmers Market.
Applications are due November 2, 2026, and are open to emerging, mid-career, and established artists in any discipline across South Florida. Details at vizcaya.org/opencall.
