Miami just earned a spot among the sporting elite: Greater Miami and Miami Beach is officially ranked #8 among the world’s top 10 global sports cities, according to Burson’s 2025 Ranking of Sport Cities.
The ranking evaluates the top 100 sports cities on the planet through perception surveys and in-depth quantitative analysis, with input from international sports leaders, media representatives and industry experts. Miami now sits in elite company alongside Paris, Los Angeles, New York, London and Madrid — and it got there as a true year-round hub for global competition.
The calendar tells the story: the Miami Open, Miami Marathon, Bacardi Cup Regatta, Capital One Orange Bowl and the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix anchor a robust annual roster, joined by full seasons of the Miami HEAT, Miami Dolphins, Miami Marlins and Inter Miami CF. This summer, the destination also welcomed the world for FIFA World Cup 26 matches at Hard Rock Stadium.
