Miami in 1 Day: The Perfect Itinerary

Only have one day in Miami? This itinerary packs the city’s greatest hits into a single well-paced day. Everything is grouped by neighborhood, so you spend your time enjoying Miami — not stuck in traffic.

Morning (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM): South Beach

Start where Miami shines brightest: the beach. Claim your spot on the sand near 5th Street before the crowds arrive — morning light is perfect and the water is calm. Around 10:30 AM, trade the towel for a stroll up Ocean Drive: the pastel Art Deco facades between 5th and 15th Streets are the most photographed blocks in the city. Allow about an hour, camera in hand.

Lunch (12:30 – 2:00 PM): Española Way or Lincoln Road

Walk or rideshare ten minutes inland to Española Way, a Mediterranean-style pedestrian lane packed with cafés, or to Lincoln Road, the open-air shopping promenade. Both are made for a relaxed lunch with people-watching included.

Afternoon (2:00 – 5:30 PM): Wynwood

Rideshare northwest (~20 minutes) to Wynwood. The Wynwood Walls open-air museum (daily until 6:30 PM; admission about $12) holds 30+ giant murals, plus galleries you can browse for free around the neighborhood. Go early in this window to beat the late-afternoon crowds.

Evening (6:30 PM onward): Little Havana

End the day on Calle Ocho, 15 minutes south. Watch the domino players at Máximo Gómez Park, sip a cafecito from a walk-up window, and stay for dinner — then live music at one of the Calle Ocho clubs. It’s the most Miami night you can have.

Getting around: rideshare between zones (each hop is 15–25 minutes). Downtown’s Metromover is free if you add a Brickell stop. Photo: Miami Happy News.
