Last Chance: “David C. Driskell & Friends” Closes Sunday at the Frost Art Museum FIU

This is your last week to see one of the most moving exhibitions in Miami right now. “David C. Driskell & Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, and Friendship” closes this Sunday, October 11, at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at FIU — and admission is always free.

The exhibition celebrates the artistic legacy of David C. Driskell (1931–2020), the celebrated artist, scholar and curator who championed Black artists for decades. More than 70 works by 35 artists trace his extraordinary friendships and collaborations across generations of African American art — including Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Jacob Lawrence, Kara Walker and Hale Woodruff.

It’s a joyful, powerful walk through creativity and community — the kind of show that reminds you why Miami’s museums are treasures. The Frost Art Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate on FIU’s campus, never charges admission, so there’s no excuse to miss this final weekend.

Go before Sunday. Your spirit will thank you.
