Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is handing South Florida artists a dream opportunity. The museum has opened applications for the inaugural 2027 Vizcaya Arts Residency + Commission, a new program under its expanded Vizcaya Arts umbrella — and the deadline is 11:59 PM on Monday, November 2, 2026.
Open to emerging, mid-career and established artists working in any discipline across South Florida, the residency supports one artist with a $12,500 artist fee, a production budget of up to $25,000, dedicated studio space during museum operating hours, curatorial support and public engagement opportunities.
The selected artist will work from May to November 2027 in a brand-new 375-square-foot Artist Studio inside the historic Chicken House at Vizcaya Village, developing a site-responsive exhibition around the theme “Holding Time” — what happens when the past, present and future occupy the same space. The resulting exhibition will be on view at Vizcaya from November 2027 to May 2028, and the artist will lead two public programs plus open studio hours during the beloved Sunday Farmers Market.
“Vizcaya has been an inspiration to artists since its inception,” said curator Helena Gomez. Applications require contact information, a short biography, an artist statement, a CV, a portfolio, a statement of interest on the theme and one letter of support. Full eligibility and instructions are at vizcaya.org/opencall.
