Walk Into Wonder: Vizcaya’s New Free Photo Installation Opens November 7

Miami’s most romantic estate is about to get a little more magical — and you won’t even need a ticket. On November 7, 2026, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens unveils Welcome to Wonder, a brand-new site-responsive photographic installation by Miami-based artist Josh Aronson, commissioned through Vizcaya’s Contemporary Arts Program.

The work turns Vizcaya’s Hammock Paths — shaded by an endangered Rockland Hammock forest — and the Vizcaya Metrorail Overpass Ramp on SW 32nd Road into an intimate journey where portraiture, nature and place unfold together. As you walk the path connecting South Miami Avenue to Vizcaya’s Entrance Piazza, you’ll encounter contemplative views of nature and images of people experiencing it: unexpected moments of pause and discovery exploring seeing and being seen, belonging and identity.

Here’s the best part: Welcome to Wonder sits in the public-access outskirts of the campus, so everyone can experience it during museum hours (9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) with no admission ticket required — just wander in with a sense of wonder.

The exhibition opens with a special reception on Saturday, November 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the Superintendent’s Garden at Vizcaya Village (remarks from the curator and artist at 11:00 a.m.), and stays on view through May 25, 2027.

It’s Aronson’s first major public commission in Miami since No Vacancy, the City of Miami Beach public art project for which he won both the People’s Choice Award and the Juror’s Prize in 2024.
