Art, tide, and landscape meet in one of Miami’s most beautiful settings — and the final two moments of the experience are coming up.
“High Tide Low Tide,” a site-responsive exhibition by Miami-based Danish-born artist Mette Tommerup, has transformed the Deering Estate grounds since September 12 with sweeping blue-canvas installations inspired by the tides and the sea. The show closes November 8, but two special events remain — and both are free.
On Saturday, October 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wave 3 brings a live performance to the Visitor Center Theater. Admission is free with advance RSVP on Eventbrite. Then on Sunday, November 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, Wave 4: King Tide offers a sunset viewing on the Front Lawn with an open-mic finale — a poetic closing for an exhibition built around the rhythm of the water.
Tommerup’s work unfolds across the Estate’s historic grounds in four “waves,” each responding to the tides of Biscayne Bay. It’s contemporary art at its most welcoming: outdoors, immersive, and free for everyone.
Don’t miss these final chapters — reserve your spot and experience art the way Miami does it best: under the open sky.
