Miami’s art and culture scene is world-class — and you don’t need a big budget to enjoy it. Throughout the year, the city’s top museums open their doors for free, whether every day, every month, or through special programs. Here’s the complete guide to experiencing Miami’s best museums without spending a dime.
**Always free — no ticket needed**
Several of Miami’s finest museums never charge admission. The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA Miami) in the Design District is always free, with rotating exhibitions of cutting-edge contemporary art plus kid-friendly Free Family Sundays. The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum at FIU showcases Latin American, Caribbean, and contemporary art with free admission year-round, and the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami is free too — both perfect for a cultural afternoon.
**Monthly free days worth planning around**
Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) throws open its doors on the **second Saturday of every month** for Free Second Saturdays: free general admission, hands-on art workshops for the whole family, and the museum’s gorgeous bayfront terrace and hanging gardens. Upcoming dates: November 14 and December 12, 2026, then January 9, 2027.
The Wolfsonian–FIU in Miami Beach offers **Free Friday evenings**, a wonderful way to start a South Beach weekend among one of the world’s best design collections. The Jewish Museum of Florida–FIU welcomes visitors **free every Saturday**, and the Miami Children’s Museum hosts free days for families throughout the year.
**Bank of America “Museums on Us”: free weekends with your card**
If you’re a Bank of America, Merrill, or Bank of America Private Bank cardholder, you get free general admission on the **first full weekend of every month** at participating museums — including PAMM, The Bass, the Miami Children’s Museum, and the Freedom Tower at Miami Dade College. Just bring your card and a photo ID. Remaining 2026 dates: November 7–8 and December 5–6; then January 2–3, 2027.
**Free passes with your library card**
The Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Museum Pass Program is one of the city’s best-kept secrets: your library card unlocks free passes (admission for a family of four) to more than a dozen local museums, gardens, and attractions — including Frost Science and Zoo Miami. Passes are first-come, first-served and valid for seven days, so reserve early.
Tip: free days draw crowds, so arrive early, check each museum’s website for the latest schedules, and pair your visit with a picnic in the park — Museum Park at PAMM or the Design District’s public spaces — for a perfect Miami day.
