Journey to Día de Muertos: Calpulli Mexican Dance Company Brings a Moving Celebration to the Arsht Center on November 1

Miami is invited to celebrate life, memory and one of Mexico’s most treasured traditions as Journey to Día de Muertos comes to the Adrienne Arsht Center on Sunday, November 1 at 3:00 p.m. Presented through the Arsht Impact community series, the event stars the acclaimed Calpulli Mexican Dance Company in a performance where folk songs, classical music and dance tell a love story that spans the boundary between the living and the dead. The story follows Lupita and Raúl, a devoted couple torn apart by treachery. As Lupita enters Mictlán, the underworld of Aztec mythology ruled by the mesmerizing Catrina, audiences are swept into a tale of love, loss and remembrance told through vibrant choreography and live music. The celebration begins outdoors on Thomson Plaza with a family-friendly gathering: live music, calavera-making, hands-on art activities and performances for all ages. Admission is Pay What You Can — free, with a $10 suggested contribution — and free RSVPs are open now. The Arsht Center, a nonprofit performing arts organization, is dedicating its 2026–27 Arsht Impact season to more than a dozen free and Pay What You Can community events celebrating Miami’s cultural diversity. Journey to Día de Muertos is a perfect family plan to honor tradition together. Photo: Adrienne Arsht Center
