Free Sunday Concerts Fill the Ocean Drive Promenade With Music Tonight

There is no better soundtrack for a Sunday evening in Miami Beach than live music steps from the sand. The Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series keeps that tradition going with a free concert every Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Lummus Park, on Ocean Drive between 14th Street and 14th Place, right in front of The Betsy Hotel.

Tonight’s double bill is pure Miami magic. The French Horn Collective, a quartet led by Parisian musician Vincent Raffard, brings jazz, swing, and modern original French music. Then pianist, composer, arranger, and music educator Edgar Pantoja takes the spotlight with Latin jazz and world music inspired by his Cuban roots — a performer who has shared the stage with Rubén Blades, David Murray, and Angélique Kidjo.

Every concert features talented local South Florida performers, and the vibe is classic Miami Beach: bring a picnic, lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole gang, and settle in for a free open-air performance as the sun goes down behind the Art Deco facades. If the weather does not cooperate, the music moves inside to the Betsy Hotel lobby — the show goes on either way.

The details: every Sunday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Lummus Park, Ocean Drive between 14th Street and 14th Place, Miami Beach. Admission is free.
