The Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical Buena Vista Social Club makes its South Florida premiere at the Adrienne Arsht Center, opening the 2026–27 Broadway in Miami season. The limited engagement runs September 29 through October 4, 2026 in the Ziff Ballet Opera House, with performances Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 7 p.m.
Inspired by the iconic 1997 Grammy-winning album, the musical follows legendary singer Omara Portuondo as she returns to the recording studio after years away, on a journey through the streets of Havana where friendships, dreams, and music intertwine. The production has deep Miami roots: the book is by Hialeah native and Tony nominee Marco Ramirez, and the choreography is by Miami native and former Miami City Ballet principal dancer Patricia Delgado with Justin Peck, who won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Choreography.
The show arrives during Hispanic Heritage Month, and the Arsht is celebrating with Rhythm & Roots, a free weeklong celebration on Thompson Plaza featuring live music, domino games, local artisans, and pop-up vendors during the run (free, RSVP required). Winner of five Tony Awards and the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, the production brings classics like “Chan Chan” to life with a world-class Afro-Cuban band.
