Here’s a beautiful plan for the family calendar: art historian and bestselling author Katy Hessel is coming to the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) for a special family book talk on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 11:30 a.m.
The event celebrates the release of “The Story of Art Without Men: An Illustrated Guide to Amazing Women Artists,” Hessel’s new book that introduces young readers to the groundbreaking women artists too often left out of history. Through interactive discussion, drawing, and visual storytelling, Hessel invites families to help expand the story of art history — and discover how art can always feel relevant and fun.
The talk is designed for ages 7 and up, making it a perfect outing for curious kids and the grown-ups who love them. It’s also a wonderful excuse to spend the day in the Design District, where ICA Miami’s free galleries and public art turn every visit into a mini adventure.
ICA Miami is located at 61 NE 41st Street. Reserve your spot through the museum’s website and arrive ready to draw, imagine, and fall in love with art all over again.
